The Kansas State Board of Education is charged with the general supervision of public education and other educational interests in the state. While clearly acknowledging the role and importance of local control, the State Board of Education has the responsibility to provide direction and leadership for the supervision of all state educational institutions under its jurisdiction.
Accountability Report
The annual Accountability Report as required by the Legislature provides a snapshot of Kansas education for the most recently completed school year. The information is provided on a statewide basis including assessment results and trends, graduation and attendance rates, school violence rates and percentages of students passing advanced math and science courses. The report also includes a review of education legislation passed in the last legislative session, a look at the education workforce in the state and a summary of statewide demographics. KERC - Kansas Education Resource Center assists educators in knowing, understanding, and using the Kansas curriculum standards, especially as they align with the Kansas state assessments. The website (developed by KSDE) provides free, quality lesson plans and resources aligned to the state standards, with new content continually reviewed for inclusion on the site.
